How can I lock PHPMyAdmin down so it is really secure on CentOS ?

I've heard horror stories about some versions of PHPMyAdmin.

How do people secure it completely so it never gets hacked ?

Thank you.

You can use disable_functions in php.ini and .htaccess restricted by IP address.
