Server incident and monitoring software

I'd like to keep track of about a hundred servers, mostly CentOS and Debian. Their RAM, drives and uptime. What's the best software to keep a historical track of this with live alerting ?

I like Hyperic (www.hyperic.com). It records a lot of variables, maintains a history and is able to graphic them. The downside is that it requieres a java-based agent in the monitored machines.

Cacti is a good option, but record less variables than Hyperic. It uses SNMP as agent.

I didn't tried Zabbix nor OpenNMS, but someone told me they are powerful.

If you did not install "nagios" or "cacti" , download and install then configure and operate it
