Gentoo News showing up after an emerge

I know this is a silly question but how can I stop eselect from offering news snippets after emerging updates ?

I'd keep an eye on important updates if I were you but you can edit PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS in make.conf to redefine emerge rsync options to exclude the ${PORTDIR}/metadata/news.
