Using Linux as a router for lots of traffic and high bandwidth

Is it possible to use a Linux server as a router for 100 Mbit plus traffic ?

Which NICs should I use ? If I went up to say 200 Mbit ...

I would like more information on the subject ideally. Where's the best place to look ?

Any recommendations most welcome.

It's more than possible to achieve Gigabit forwarding speeds. You can opt for Intel the igb driver NICs.

Performance is measured on packets per second and not Mbits.
