Installing Ubuntu over a console cable

My old server only has console access and no VGA.

Can I install Ubuntu Server over console only in text mode ?

Some distribution try to find proper device, if they dont find device

they try to open port serial 9800,noparity

if ubuntu has not this kind of ability , remove disk and attach

on other computer, install Linux, then put disk in

original computer

I would put the disk in another machine and install it from there.

Or boot a live CD with a ssh server, export the disk and install with deboostrap or as a VM on the exported disk (for instance via nbd).

I think you cant install ubuntu in text base

you can install Redhat in text base or instal esx after install ubuntu on esx
