Solaris 11 Express

Can someone explain why a hardware compatibility list is necessary for Solaris 11 please ?

Doesn't it work on normal hardware ?

I assume that the hardware compatibility list is what Sun has specifically tested themselves to ensure it functions correctly. Obviously it's just not possible to test every piece of hardware so you can never really get a comprehensive list. If your hardware is known to work with Solaris then it should work regardless.
